Google Wayfinding
Exterior wayfinding system for Google's Kirkland campus.
Description
When Google’s Kirkland campus was set to substantially expand, they approached Studio Matthews to design a new wayfinding system to guide Googlers and visitors. Google’s founders are strong believers in the Montessori method of learning, which focuses on sensory stimulation. This inspired our design solution: each building on campus is identifiable by its unique texture, accompanied by a letter and Google color. The signs’ tactile quality invites touch, and as the light shifts throughout the day and from season to season, the dimensionality of the signs creates a changing shadow play.
